Starting the Data Dictionary
There are three ways to start the Data Dictionary:
- At the command line, enter the following command:
- From any of the Application Development tools, choose Tools
Data Dictionary.
- In the Procedure Editor, type dict. Then choose Compile
Run or press GO.
The Procedure Editor opens the Data Dictionary, as shown in Figure 1–1.

Once open, the Data Dictionary displays the name of the working database in the lower-left corner of the window (if you have at least one connected database). You can have multiple databases connected at any time, but only one is the current, working database. To select an existing working database, choose Database
Select Working Database from the menu bar.
